[WHAT REMAINS] Season 2 Recap

dropping this here so i don't lose it and y'all can make contributions!

This recap is significantly shorter than our Season 1 recap for the sole reason that Season 2 ran from December 19, 2020, to February 7, 2022, and frankly, we just don't remember everything!

SEASON 2, EPISODE 1: QUESTIONABLE ETHICS

Season 2 began in August 2029 with The Bombing of Pittsford
- The Bombing of Pittsford was orchestrated by the Inner-Cities Liberation Front, a group comprised of many smaller factions from throughout Pittsford with the goal of overthrowing The Coalition
  - The United Citizens Group
  - The Dollfaces
  - The Golden Branch Society
  - BASTION Risk Control Services
  - The Memorial District Patriots
- The following members of Ranger Commandwent missing after the bombing:
  - Head Councilor Anton Korshunov
  - Chief Ranger Larue Monroe
  - Senior Ranger William Kozuch
- Leclair Mercier became the Head Councilor in Anton's place; Ranger General Jack Bevis became the Chief Ranger in Larue's place
Coalition Unit 2-15, headed by Senior Ranger Max Rutherford, was transferred to Pittsford for riot control duty in the Liberty District
- Junior Ranger Francis King was conscripted into their unit before they left
- On their way into the city:
  - Junior Ranger Marco Alferez was killed by The Ogre
  - Junior Ranger Aklaq Scott was bitten by a zombified dog and had his arm amputated
  - Max Rutherford was bitten by a zombie while attempting to save Ranger Nat Brackenridge and had her arm amputated
Meanwhile, Monroe's election season began. The candidates for Minister included:
- Terry Winters
- Crystal Chen
- Anthony Wilson

SEASON 2, EPISODE 2: OPPRESSOR

Max Rutherford headed into the Liberty District with her unit to visit her old friend and leader of The Dollfaces, Rhea Varnado / "Barbie Doll"
- They brokered the release of Chief Ranger Larue Monroe in exchange for The Coalition handing over Armando Rusk
- Junior Ranger Demi McIntosh asked for info on a Dollface by the name of Danielle, later confronting and killing her with Max
Max and Senior Ranger Truman Parker teamed up their units
Max, Francis, and Deputy Rachel Bevis went AWOL during an investigation on behalf of the Office of Strategic Intelligence to confront Richard Parker
- They learned from Richard that Ranger Edward Lee Orton had been smuggling weapons and making deals with the Inner-Cities Liberation Front, as well as Brighton involvement in Pittsford
- While the group was AWOL, chaos erupted in the streets of the Liberty District when the Memorial District Patriots set off a bomb, and Aklaq Scottwas killed
  - During a subsequent raid on their outpost, Ranger Duke Helmer shot and killed Roderick Northup
In Monroe County, a horde attacked Recorder's newly formed community, Haven Point, and she was killed

SEASON 2, EPISODE 3: THE LONG DARK: PART I

Junior Ranger Marcie Graham was assigned to Unit 2-15
Max, Nat, Rachel, Ranger Intelligence Group Inspector Michelle Reed, and Junior Ranger Leslie Winton all broke into the Kalli Trade Emporium Headquarters searching for Winton's ex-boyfriend, Ma Sang-hwa
- They were successful in finding him but numerous members of KTE's guard force were killed in the process, including Rasca
Max, Demi, Marcie, and Tiffany Reynolds—a member of The Dollfaces—all infiltrated Il Drago Rosso, a club run by the Golden Branch Society, in search of Demi's adoptive father, Senior Ranger William Kozuch
- They rescued William, but in exchange, they had to fight in a five-round gauntlet for the enjoyment of those at the club
- Marcie assassinated the club's owner, Alessio di Lorenzo
Max and her fiancée, Corey Jackson, broke up due to Max's drug use. Corey had lost both of her legs in the Bombing of Pittsfordand Max was acting as her caretaker up until then. Corey's condition began deteriorating afterward. On New Year's, Max approached Corey and the two had a chat. They nearly got back together, but Corey was suddenly thrown into a rage which ended in her committing suicide
- Corey's suicide was caused by The Man in Red
Francis recused Tara Garland, an ex-member of Brighton
After speaking with Marshall Grant, Unit 2-15 decided to independently travel to Nunavut, Canada, and destroy Epsilon Station
Unit 2-15 returned to their outpost without permission from Jack Bevis
- There, Michelle snapped and went on a shooting spree which resulted in the death of Philip
Ultimately, Terry Winters won the election in Monroe and became Minister

SEASON 2, EPISODE 4: THE LONG DARK: PART II

Unit 2-15 rescued Head Councilor Anton Korshunov from a Brighton slave camp, headed by Stephen Fisk
- There, they also found and rescued Ranger Darren McKidd who was later officially assigned to Unit 2-15
As thanks for rescuing him, Korshunov asked Max to give a speech at a commendation ceremony for her unit, as well as be the face of the Liberty Districtin his political campaign
- Max gave the speech as requested, but in it, she expressed full support for the Inner-Cities Liberation Front and slandered The Coalition
  - This sparked more fighting throughout Pittsford
At some point, Francis killed Richard Parker
Unit 2-15 prepared to head off to Canada with Monroe

SEASON 2, EPISODE 5: IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS

Unit 2-15 and Monroe arrived at the Canadian Border Zone in Nunavut, Canada where they met Ranger Jared Vaugersonand his unit
- They did not initially divulge their plans to infiltrate and destroy Epsilon Station to Jared
- A few members of 2-15 stayed at the CBZ, while the rest and the Monrovians set up camp at a nearby dock house
After learning that a team of Rangers had gone missing in the nearby mines, Unit 2-15 and Monroewent to investigate
- There, they encountered The Old Growth
