Title: Character Skills
Character Name: Lincoln Whittaker
In-Game Coordinate: 3582, 16881
Heya! I don't know a lot about Hydrcocraft. Typically, I try to avoid using it, so learning how to hunt or track animals like I was intending to do with the character has become a real struggle. I've been digging through lua's, reading people's help suggestion on forums and reddit, and here's what I've figured out.
To successfully hunt anything through the crafting system, you need a bunch of different items. I've got those, not a problem. You also need appropriate Trapping skill, and I've got that. What isn't made clear anywhere, but probably sounds like common sense, is that you need sneaking skill and aiming skill to bag anything, so what I'm asking for is a few points in both of those skills, particularly since they can be so difficult, grindy, and prohibitive when trying to level on my lonesome. Three points would be great, but I'm willing to take anything.
Tracking animals is another problem. Another big part of my plan was to help bring in stray animals like cows, horses, pigs, and chickens to settlements like Monroe, to help with the economy meta-game. I've got the skills, and the required items, for the most part, but what I don't have is a dog, and you need a dog to track feral's and domesticate them. To get a dog, you need a dog whistle, and you can't craft one. At some point, I'd like to be able to find one of these, or to find a dog.
My justifications for this request are as follows: Whit has been living in the wilderness for twelve years without any friends, groups, or help. Before that, he lived in the woods near Brownwood, Texas, on a piece of land with a deer hunting blind. With this information, one could assume he'd have at least an average knowledge of firearms specifically catered to hunting, and that he would have been hunting for meat during his twelve years alone after the fall of civilization. Though I've had trouble finding the right people to trade with, the only deer carcass I've come across (through an admin event) I traded to Monroe, and I keep all of my extra loot organized in bags to trade with other players. I think this suggests that by gifting me the appropriate skills to hunt, aiming and sneaking, that I would use them to benefit the playerbase and not just myself.
Thank you for your consideration. I appreciate your time.
