Biography
Ahyoka came from a family who practically lived in a zoo. She grew up with all sorts of animals, but gerbils were her favorite with her having about 20 throughout her life. She knows all the animals both domestic and wild, and tends to prefer their company over people. Her father was an ex-marine and had a Native American Background, Cherokee/Seminole. Unlike a gerbil's father, her father was not the most nurturing nor protective of fathers. He would even throw her to "the wolves" through many trials in order to teach her how to survive in the wilderness. Her most extreme trial was at the age of 12 where her father abandoned her in an isolated forest for an entire week, and making her find her way back to civilization. It was then that her father's lessons and skills were put to the test and she triumphed not only nature, but her own human limitations as well. No CPS was reported, but Ahyoka would leave home as soon as possible; cutting all ties with her neglectful harsh family. She became distrustful of people due to her childhood trauma, and became dependent on her animal friends for comfort in the years to come. Although her father's lessons were harsh and dangerous. Ahyoka would soon realize just how important her experience as a child was in the days to come....

During the beginning days ,she escaped her job at the dog groomers with her life, a couple of dogs, and all gerbils that she had taken care at the pet store. After losing contact with her mother and older brother, she and her father were forced to move on and find safety elsewhere. She and her father were living a nomadic lifestyle for years, until they reached New Denver. Her father, distrustful of the factions and strangers in general kept his daughter isolated from the feuds and tension. They would constantly move from and to various bases located around the region in order to avoid being tracked or ambushed. Meanwhile, her father would occasionally sneak into many of the factions strongholds an steal what couldn't be found or made by himself. Besides her father, the only other companionship that Ahyoka had was with her fathers various dogs. Her closest friends are her own dogs, Rebel (German Shepard), Teddy (Alaskan Husky), and an enormous gerbil clan that somewhat follows her from place to place. These gerbils were all hand raised by her, and had developed a loyal connection to her from generations of care. Although not all of them follow her everywhere, the ones that do tend hideout in her hood or in her various pockets. They sleep and cuddle next to Ahyoka and even her dogs. They have even saved her and her father's life in various situations by thumping their feet whenever danger was close; alerting the whole party before it was too late. Many of her gerbils would come and go, and she would eventually stop naming them and just refer to them as the gerbils.
Over the years, this isolated nomadic lifestyle began to take its toll on Ahyoka's mental health. She began to lose her own identity as human and would only talk through her animals when socializing with other people. Conversation for example would go like "Rebel doesn't like this area, we should leave", "The gerbils are nervous, can we leave?".
Present day, Ahyoka's father never returns from one of his trips to the neighboring factions. While frantically searching for her father, Ahyoka finds the images of crows etched into the trees nearby, along with sound of cawing echoing in the distance. She remembers hearing about the group known as the Crows from her father. Deep down, Ahyoka believed them to be of similar cloth, and wanted know just how close to freedom they were. Believing that either the Crows are behind her father's disappearance, or that the sign was left by her father as a secret message to her. She makes the decision to seek them out. Another lesson from her father was that of koga nvwati. Koga nvawati or crow medicine which gives us the ability to make decisions, open ourselves to change, and experience the world. "The Crows must have the answers, so why not follow them into the darkness says the Gerbils....".
