Blood Type

Personality
If we were to describe Sawyer kindly, we’d call him a good-hearted and loyal young man willing to do what he must to aid those he cares for in their survival. If we spoke truthful, he’d be deemed a coward afraid of his own shadow.
Sawyer is the epitome of a breathing punchline. With a sarcastic, self-deprecating sense of humor and a wavering sense of confidence, he often finds himself in awkward and tense situations. He tends to use humor to negate confrontation and has an unusual knack for fading into the background of any scene.
Character Motivations
Finding his father sounds like a solid plan in Sawyer’s mind but it isn’t something he feels he can do on his own. His main goal is to find a working vehicle that allows him to travel back to the place where he abandoned his family as well as potentially make a friend or two.
Physical Appearance
Considering the state of the world, it wouldn’t kill Sawyer to hit the weights every once in a while. The teen is far from your everyday Hercules. The last time he checked he was somewhere around 5’10” with gangly arms and chicken bone legs. One solid hit to the chest could knock the boy flat on his back.
He has an unkempt mess of brown hair, sunken brown eyes, and the beginning stages of a beard that he swears will grow in if he just lets it grow.
He often wears graphic tees that he’s found in his travels as well as a red hooded jacket that is a size or two too large for him. His blue jeans and black sneakers have seen better days, severely in the need of being introduced to the garbage.

Biography
When Sawyer was born, the world hadn’t met its tragic end. There was still hustle and bustle in the streets of New York. Brooklyn was no exception to this rule. His parents weren’t rolling in cash, working as a butcher and a receptionist. It was just enough to put a roof over their heads and food into the mouths of their three kids.
The house was in a constant state of chaos raising three children under the age of six years old. Toys littered the floor in every room of the house. There was always at least one child crying. And the stress from the unfillable needs had put a strain on his parent’s marriage.
By the time Sawyer had miraculously made it to three years old, his parents were filing for divorce that was followed by a nasty custody battle. Sawyer ended up with his father while the two older children were whisked away with his mother to a location he’d never visit.
Life with his father in their studio apartment didn’t leave a lasting impression on the growing child. It was too easily shadowed by the world crashing down around them and the sacrifices his father was willing to make to keep him safe.
Cities burned. People died. The Elliot boys ran.
Days running from the inevitable turned to months turned to years. His father believed that staying in one place too long led to problems. Faces passed and turned into nothing more than another memory tucked away in his mind. Somewhere in him, Sawyer knew his father was right. That problems only followed with community. He couldn’t help but to long for connection outside of the small family unit he had.
Instead, he turned to something his father couldn’t take from him. Comic books, music, and technology became the only real companions that Sawyer possessed. To pass the time, he’d take apart radios and other small gadgets. He learned how to put them back together and how to make things from the scrap.
By the age of sixteen, Sawyer was a regular tech whiz. He could create tech, fix power sources, and even create weaponry to protect his father in a way that his muscle certainly couldn’t.
His lack of strength and cowardice eventually turned to work against him. It was as if time had finally caught up to the two. It was a routine run that Sawyer and his father had run a thousand times over. The road had become infested with a passing horde, more than the two had seen since the beginning of the outbreak itself.
One misstep on Sawyer’s part turned every undead head their way. An aluminum can under his sneaker. His father screamed for him to run and that’s what he did. Sawyer ran until his feet couldn’t run anymore, even if it meant separating from his father.
It’s been an entire year since he let his cowardice pull him from the only family he’d ever known. He’s moved from place to place, keeping his father’s code of not staying in one place for too long without packing up and moving.
The question now is how long until his feet get tired again?
