≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

Title: More questions for Monroe

Hey guys. :)

First off, thanks for all your helpfulness with all my tickets. I know I crave a lot of info sometimes, and I appreciate every reply as well as the time you put into writing them. <3

Terry's decided to find out what the hopes and wishes of the Monrovians are. She's not going to do it publically though - if she does a public poll or questionaire, Crystal could make easy use of the information as well, and Terry would like to keep it to herself, as far as possible.

So, over the course of the last few weeks, Terry has tried to personally ask as many residents as she can.

Her questions to them are:

- What issue(s) would you like the governing body of Monroe to focus on the most?

- What projects to better Monroe would you like to see started or, if already in progress, finished?

- What are your thoughts on the other known factions outside of Monroe, such as the CPF?

If you could summarize their responses ("A majority of people think so and so"), it would be very helpful, and likely take less time to write up than having to come up with individual responses. However, you're very welcome to add in if specific people make some points that might be of interest, too.

Thankyou!
Pika

Sorry for the late response!! I've been checking the forums, but I guess I ended up missing this ticket. I think I can answer it myself, though!

- What issue(s) would you like the governing body of Monroe to focus on the most?

The general consensus from the population, especially those who have lived in Monroe for years, is that they crave stability. Ever since the death of Julian Carmichael-Ortiz, Monroe has been on a decline. Monroe was built on the idea of being a safe haven for those in The Barrens--a new start for everyone, no matter their past. There's so much uncertainty now. The leadership hasn't been stable for months. Tensions are higher than ever before. And they're tired of it. They want a leader that they can trust wholeheartedly, one that they know will do what's best for Monroe. They want to go back to what Monroe was in 2026, 2027, and the better part of 2028. Of course, there are some that support Crystal completely, but even they can admit that there are issues with the current leadership. Monroe won't be able to truly thrive until that stability returns.

- What projects to better Monroe would you like to see started or, if already in progress, finished?
The people of Monroe have expressed that they'd like for the projects that started months ago to finally be completed. The mill, which has been broken for over a year now, was mentioned the most. Others mentioned fixing the well so that the town will have a stable source of clean water again. It was walled-in and has since been ignored. It's been called an 'eyesore'. A few people have requested that the sewers be made safe again to minimize any possible risks towards Monroe, though it was definitely mentioned less than the former two.
The only new project mentioned was the gates. Some citizens requested that they be reinforced because they are constantly being toppled by hordes and in need of repairs.

- What are your thoughts on the other known factions outside of Monroe, such as the CPF?
For those who have lived in Monroe since the beginning and the year following, they still maintain a general distaste for the CPF. Not all to the extent that Avery and Marian did, but they'd prefer to avoid them if at all possible. There are some that still fear the idea of the CPF taking over Monroe, and want to avoid that if at all possible. Some citizens who were asked even made snide remarks about Ranger Rutherford, and said things to the extent of 'if this is who the CPF has chosen to lead their outpost, they've got to be pretty bad off.' Others are more open to the idea of a relationship between the two factions. They stated that 'the CPF has reached out and offered support to Monroe in the past' and that 'maybe their intentions are truly good'.
The only other slightly-known faction outside of Monroe is Brighton. Most know little to nothing about it but have heard things here and there around town. Their general attitude towards Brighton is incredibly negative or fearful.
