Age

Blood Type

Personality
They are desensitized by the seemingly barbaric and inhumane tactics of the insurgents, and watching their fellow soldiers and friends succumb to their wounds caused by them. They seemingly have no emotion unless you form a close relationship to them, and they trust almost nobody, preferring to stay alone throughout the zombie apocalypse. They are very hardened in general, but torn between their medic history and their combat history, preferring not to kill unless they have to, but not afraid to threaten or even injure anyone who gets in their way. They will sometimes offer medical aid to people that need it, and are disarmed or helpless, but never sticks around people too long. After the zombies arrived, and everyone either died or joined up in factions and fought over seemingly anything, it only reminds them of their time in iraq and they'd prefer to stay far away from all of it.
Character Motivations
They want to help out where they can, but are always torn because of their military past. They would like to help any injured or gravely ill persons, but are always paranoid and untrusting of people in general. They just want to see the world returned to the relative peacefulness of before the zombie apocalypse, and if they can't, then to attempt to live off the land, and away from people they can't trust. Knowing nothing about farming or cooking, they've slowly learned the basics over the years in order to not rely on anybody.
Physical Appearance
A 5'2 or 1.57m tall woman, somewhat muscular and weighing about 125lbs or 56kg. Seemingly emotionless and dead inside at almost all times, with a general hardened look about them from their combat history. A few scattered scars around their body from old shrapnel wounds, and an old bullet wound scar on their right leg just above the knee. Rather long dark brown hair falling down below their shoulderblades, green eyes, and hearing aids in both ears due to hearing damage.

Combat Medic
Biography
Kathryn Holman, an Iraq war veteran, serving as a combat medic starting in 2004 at the age of 19. They did a couple tours, becoming increasingly hardened from the war and all of the events they've lived through. They received multiple shrapnel injuries over the course, and finally becoming discharged due to a bullet wound above their knee which required months of surgery and physical therapy to recover from, though still having pain from it to this day. After the war, they went through a long bout of depression and started a smoking habit from the stresses and pain caused by the war. Living off unemployment and VA money for years, they finally got their life back together and was employed at a warehouse, through the help of therapy, which they were unwilling to commit to for years not wanting to bring back the memories and events they experienced. When the zombies showed up in 2015, they were woken up abruptly by the sound of sirens. Startled and alert, they immediately got up to look out the window, only to see chaos in the streets. Without thinking, they ran to their gun safe and grabbed their M1911 and spare magazines, and sat down to listen to the radio in shock at what they were hearing. An infection? Zombies? They knew this wasn't good. After a few minutes of panic followed by memories flooding back, They grabbed their car keys and drove far outside city limits, eventually pulling off to the side of the road and contemplating what was really happening. Gunshots rang out from the town nearby. This couldn't be happening, they thought. I must be having another fucked up nightmare. After thinking about it for a while, seeing it first hand, and seeing people get bitten and torn apart by zombies in the street as they left the city, they knew this was either a nightmare or the end of the world They pulled out their trusty M1911 and put the barrel in their mouth. "I can't live in a world like this if it truly is real" they thought... They closed their eyes and put their finger on the trigger, only to immediately get interrupted by a mans scream down the road. They immediately snapped out of it. They looked up to see a clearly injured and bleeding man who just ran into the road and collapsed. he seemed like he was dying, but it was too far away to tell from what. Suddenly, a group of 4 people rushed out of the forest next to the road, guns in hand. One of them stepped up to the man and it seemed like he was saying something, when the man screamed "Please god, please no!" And immediately a gunshot rang out as the man went limp, motionless. He was dead, and they killed him. No... Why would they have killed him? Why is this happening? But before they could even realize it, their combat experience kicked in and they were standing outside with their gun pointed directly at the group. "Put the fucking guns down now!" The group of 4, somewhat startled, looked over and saw Kathryn standing there threateningly. The man who just killed started laughing. He said "Do you realize what is happening? Its a lawless state, baby! Now, you put the gun down before you hurt anyone sweethea-" Kathryn out of pure rage pulled the trigger as a loud bang echoed down the highway. The man immediately collapsed, motionless. The other 3 men, shocked at what just happened to their friend, started screaming "You bitch! You killed our friend!" and opened fire at Kathryn and her car. She ran to the rear of the car and ducked down for cover, waiting for the gunfire to subside. Once it finally did, she poked up, and saw the men staring at their empty guns, and she carefully aimed and pulled the trigger 6 more times until the gun was out of ammo. The man on the left doubled over onto the ground screaming in pain, and the one next to him slowly fell backwards, blood leaking out of a bullet wound in his forehead. The 3rd, somehow unharmed, quickly panicked, throwing their gun and running back into the woods. Kathryn quickly walked over to the surviving man, still writhing around, clearly in lots of pain. She stopped just above him and stared down at him, rage burning in her eyes. He pathetically said "N-no! please! Im s-sorry! please help me.." as Kathryn slowly loaded a new magazine into her M1911 and racked the slide, pointing it directly at his skull. "You shouldn't have killed him, you know." She says. Just before pulling the trigger, ending his life, she realised... She is becoming one of them already. She can't let this happen... So she sat down at the edge of the road and watched the man, clearly confused on why he is not dead. "W-why didnt you just kill me..?" he said, seemingly regretting the words he just said. "Because i'm not one of you. I'm not this person anymore... I can't be..." Kathryn states, as she gets up and walks back to her car. She sat down in the seat, and watched as the man slowly crawled back to the forest in desperation, only to stop after 10 feet. She thought about it for a minute, as she sighed and ripped up her sleeves, getting back out and walking over to the man. He was clearly gravely injured, but the best thing she could do was bandage it and give him a handful of her painkillers. She says "These will knock you out so you don't have to feel the pain, I don't think you will survive, i'm sorry." as she turns and gets back in her car, turning the engine on. "I can't kill myself... I need to help these people... I need to do my part, for the good of the country. I need to stop what's happening..." Kathryn then slowly put her gun back in the glovebox, and drove into the nearby town to do whatever she could to help those innocent that survived. She would spend the first few years of the infection tending to any injured she found, until she saw the major factions we see today form. She realised she couldn't fix everything, she can't help everyone... So she ended up finding an isolated house and began barricading it up and preparing to learn to live off the land. She was going to isolate herself from everyone, because she cannot trust anyone now, not even the people she helps. And this is how she lived for many years following, with only her thoughts and the warmth of the fireplace as company. Only going to towns for supplies, desperate to never see combat or the cruel world that has risen due to the zombie infection. She became increasingly harsh to anyone she met, hoping to keep anyone and everyone away. We'll see how well that turns out in the coming years, as the major factions gain more power and more influence across the now decimated united stated.
