≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

    After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

    This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

    Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

Approximately how many hours have you played on Gateway?
0, only played on New Dawn as of now

Approximately how many hours do you play a week?
Whenever I have the time, which would be about 20 if possible

Describe your roleplay experience.
I’ve been apart of New Dawn since 2015 until it switched to Gateway, which is kind of when I took a break from gaming in general. I also played on DayzRP/Arma Life back in the day before and during 2015-2017. I also played some GTA RP more recently which wasn’t as serious or immersive as this

Have you ever been involved in roleplay leadership and/or creating a lore?
I have not but I would love to get into lore creation down the road!

Have you ever been an admin on an online game? If so, for what groups and for how long?
I was an admin back in New Dawn for maybe a a couple weeks before I took quite a bit of a break due to some family stuff

Do you have any skills that could help the team?
Despite how fake this sounds based on the text below, but I have certifications in photoshop for design, I’ve also taken many creative writing courses that helped me improve my writing and creative skills, such as creating video game concepts that may never see the light of day. I also have very slim basic knowledge in code, primarily c++ and Python.

What do you think you may need to improve upon in terms of being an admin?
I could improve upon on taking a things bit more serious. I tend to throw jokes at the wrong times haha

If you had to suggest a change to the way things are done on Gateway, what would it be?
I haven’t been around on Gateway for quite awhile to really be sure, and I realize that we’re all waiting for build 41 but personally I believe transparency between both sides of a community could always be improved no matter the situation

Hey, Leo!! After some discussion amongst the staff, we've decided to accept your admin application!

You won't actually be added to the team right away. Our current plan is to finish up this lore with the team as it is, then add everyone new as Junior Admins once we get closer to next lore. As of now, we're aiming to finish What We Become Part II: What Remains on or around January 30, 2022.

'Junior Admin' is our new name for trainee admins. Things have changed a lot since you were last an admin, so it's probably for the best that we train you again. After that, you'll be promoted to a full admin!

Heya, Leo! I wanted to give you a little update.

I know we're way past the ETA we originally gave you. We've decided to stop giving an ETA period because there's no way we'll realistically be able to stick to it. But, we've made great progress on our map for the next lore as well as the story itself, and our current lore only has a few episodes remaining. MindGate will be posting another Not-So-Weekly Update soon to summarize our progress if you want to check it out. You'll still be added to the team once the current lore has concluded, assuming you still want to join the team.
