How old are you?
I'm older than 18 years old. I'm younger than El Cid.
Which timezone do you primarily live in?
GMT +1 (Denmark)
Approximately how many hours have you played on Gateway Roleplay?
Oh boy....uuuh....a lot? More than 1 hour? Does the OG New Dawn hours count as well?
Approximately how many hours do you play a week?
Depends on the week. But generally, if the server is active then so am I.
What previous roleplay experience do you have?
Got started in the original Neverwinter Nights RP servers and played for years. Love DnD and been in a few groups. Some image board rp, City of Heroes casual rp, then I've been around Gateway for pretty much the entire current lore.
...oh, and I created New Dawn. ;)
Have you ever been involved in roleplay leadership and/or creating a lore?
Well I didn't PLAN it but somehow my meek, not-at-all-a-leader OC became the leader of a main faction and it's been a blast.
As for creating a lore, mostly been on the sidelines, and New Dawn didn't have much of a lore when it first started out, save for the game lore. I like creating stories and upholding lore more than creating it from the ground up I guess.
Have you ever been an admin on an online game? If so, for what groups and for how long?
New Dawn was really my only experience being a head admin for a longer time. But it went pretty well. I don't remember if I ever really roleplayed that much in those days, I spent most of my time communicating with players and fixing issues, so there's that.
Do you have any skills that could help the team?
I draw a bunch. Could create art for lore stuff or just flavor in general, if wanted/needed. And I can write somewhat okay. I like coming up with new things within an established world. I could write up some faction concepts for sure.
What do you think you may need to improve upon in terms of being an admin?
My admin skills need dusting off, it's been a while. I've been in the mindset of 'just a player' for a long time. Also I could use a lil bit more building experience, it's something I really want to do more of if possible.
If you had to suggest a change to the way things are done on Gateway, what would it be?
The current lore has been amazing and I've had some of my best rp moments within it.
That being said, the lack of extra hands/more admins, in general as well as admins with lore master priviliges, has often held things up for long periods of time. I know there's been talk of smoothing out how admining is done, and I'd like to be part of that progression, to the point where I'm considering not creating a player character at all and, if accepted, just focusing on admining and supporting the lore and story. I don't necessarily plan on being a lore master myself, but I do think the role should be delegated to more people and the lore kept open and accessible between (head) admins. I also think the system of having event 'slots' that admins can take, to limit the number of events going on at the same time, would benefit the new lore. More people involved in the same events is better than having a lot of smaller and occasionally contradictory events.
Admins being in charge of certain factions is a good idea, however I think the faction data should be left openly accessible to other admins so that, in case the admin in charge of a faction leaves, other admins will be able to pick it up, to either tie up loose ends or continue it as seen fit. Factions disappearing or getting abandoned has sometimes left characters stranded and events unfinished, and this would be a way to help prevent that happening. An admin in charge of a faction or piece of lore could note if they'll allow other admins to make rulings or changes to their faction in case they're not available. Just basically anything that helps delegate when needed, and limits having to wait for a response or getting permission from a single person.
A single place for admins to look up documentation on lore/factions would be a way to centralize the known info of the world and let all admins access it at all times. Admins would of course then be required to update info on their own factions. Updates to lore/faction info should be announced within the admin team, to keep the information central alive and make sure the admins both notice and use it.
Super loved how npcs became a huge part of populating the world and story, especially when player count began to dwindle. Having players or admins in charge of several npc characters is a great thing. If accepted, I really look forward to helping shape how that is done.
Them's my thoughts, so far.
