≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

“Terry?”

“Mm?”

“What’re you thinking about?”

“....”

“...we’re married.”

“...we’re married.”

“Yeah. You and me. We’re married.”

“Heh. We’re super married. Rings and everything.”

“Marriage license.”

“Just lacking the cake.”

“And the band. And the dress.”

“Don’t know how we’ll find one in Gerald’s size, but...”

“We’ll just have to try our best.”

“Yeah. Hehe.”

“Heh.”

“...”

“....but we’re married.”

“You’re going to be saying that all night, aren’t you?”

“Yeah. I still can’t believe it.”

“Me neither.”

“...”

“Marcus?”

“Yes?”

“...are you sure about this?”

“You asked me that before.”

“Yeah.”

“So…you already know my answer.”

“I know.”

“...but…are you? Really?”

“...”

“Nobody knows tomorrow, Terry.”

“I know, but…”

“Could be any number of things that do us in.”

“I know. But…we’ve already got a lot more…numbers of things…than most people.”

“Mh.”

“We don’t even know all of it. We don’t know. There’s gonna be more we don’t know.”

“We’ve done that before. Thought Monroe were going to pick up their pitchforks, and they didn’t.”

“Barely.”

“But they didn’t.”

“Yeah…but…Monroe’s one thing. Now comes all the rest.”

“Mmh.”

“Even without Colin…we don’t know where all…this is going to end.”

“...”

“...”

“...You’re a badass chick, Terry.”

“...That sounded so weird.”

“It’s not something I say a lot is it?”

“It was awful.”

“Hehe.”

“Heh.”

“You’ve made it through some crazy things.”

“We both have.”

“Yeah…gods know, yeah, but…what I mean is, this…progenitor thing. Most people wouldn’t have gotten this far.”

“...”

“Most people would’ve given up long ago.”

“Maybe…”

“...”

“...it’s not that I haven’t thought about it.”

“Yeah…”

“All this weird crap. Sure, we don’t know what’ll happen, even after Colin, but….can’t really do anything except take it one step at a time though, right?”

“I’m gonna try…well everything, to make this all work out, but…”

“You’re going to kick his ass.”

“Heh.”

“You are. Anyone can do it, it’s you. It’s us.”

“Yeah…”

“This virus thing? Gonna kick it too. Whatever way we want to kick it. We’ll kick all the things.”

“You sound really sure.”

“Can’t do much else, right? Besides, we’ve kicked lots of things already. Just another thing that needs kicking.”

“Just another thing.”

“Yup.”

“The end of the world.”

“Just another thing.”

“Heh.”

“....”

“....”

“...and…what if we don’t?”

“Hm?”

“I mean…if it doesn’t work out…”

“Yeah? What then?”

“Would you still….have done this?”

“Married you?”

“Yeah.”

“Mh. Yeah.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Even if things go badly?”

“Mmh…married or not, it doesn’t change anything. It’s just another way for me to tell you I’m not going anywhere.”

“And if things go badly…if we don’t make it, then we’ll have tried our best. If I don’t make it, then I’ll have done what I could. If you don’t make it…”

“...Yeah?”

“Marcus…?”

“You know...I’d much rather think about right now. This moment.”

“Just the moments we know we’re having.”

“The right now.”

“Yeah.”

“Yeah…me too.”

“...”

“...”

“...I love you, Terry Baczek Winters.”
