≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

    After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

    This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

    Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

Biography
Jhonny came from a military family and he of course, followed suit. He served in the military for 8 years and would of stayed if he could. From flash grenades, to gunshots, to being shot, he couldn't do it no more. His hearing was starting to fail, his seight and the shot he took to the leg made it painful to run. So he retired and joined the police in his local town. Jhonny soon gained the nickname jhonny sacks(from the sapronos) for having a Italian last name. Jhonny took his job a little to seriously and it made him unlikable which would explain why he is single. With a little limp and some anger issues, Johnny now finds him self here, the apocalypse.

Also worth noting, the current year during Manhunt is 2032. The outbreak began in 2015, so it's been 17 years. Johnny would have been around 15 at the start. Not a huge deal because the main focus here is combat and less so character backstories, but I figured it'd be worth mentioning!

If you want to read up a little on the What We Become: Part II timeline, familiarize yourself with the Coalition and Liberty District, etc., MindGate linked some great resources in this response to the Extraction thread. It's not a requirement, though! MindGate and I are happy to answer any questions you may have.

  • Documented Military Service: As part of the process of becoming a Coalition Citizen, all members were required to mention past military service. Johnny's service has been well-documented, and his name has likely crossed the desks of many volunteer service programs over the years.
  • City Guard: As a dedicated member of the City Guard, you are a familiar face among your fellow Guardsmen. Likewise, your presence may trigger memories among members of the ICLF Rebels for better or for worse.
  • Memorable Nickname: The moniker "Johnny Sacks" is distinctive and, thanks to your time with the City Guard, inextricably linked to your face.
Character Quests: As a member of the City Guard, you bear the innate responsibility of suppressing the rebellion. If Roderick Northup remains in the building, apprehending him could be your most viable means of resolving this predicament.
