Likewise, to his sister, Emma Reid, Shaun always kept his nose clean and wasn’t that much of a trouble maker. In school, he always respected authority and typically kept himself out of trouble. While he wasn’t a ‘goody two shoes’, he certainly was not the living epitome of a class clown. Shaun never had any issues fitting in with any crowd at school due to his amiable and friendly nature. He is very approachable about nearly all manners and topics due to the educational path he chose to go down. Before the apocalypse, many would have considered him to be rather charming but one of his massive drawbacks was his incessant need to hear positive feedback. If the man was not told he was doing a good job or if his deeds went unnoticed, he believed they were not good enough. Shaun has an amusing and very keen sense of humor and takes almost nothing to heart when it comes to a joke. Most things do not offend him and seeing as the end of the world is upon him, there are worse things than being offended by a joke. Given the household he grew up in, Shaun is a well-mannered individual and very rarely will ever break from his manners. He has a strong sense of values and believes heavily in his own morals. He is especially caring towards his family and friends, namely Emma. He can be described as kindhearted and would sooner attempt to talk through a hostile situation than resort to violence against other humans. Zombies, on the other hand, can not be reasoned with.

Shaun Evan Reid stands at a rough 6’1” borderline 6’2”. He always was one of the tallest kids during his time at school up until the later years of his high school experience where most kids finally ‘glowed’ up. His hair is rather short and typically messy to a degree. The front is usually always styled and combed. He sports a short length facial hair that spans from his upper lip to his cheeks and chin. It could closely resemble a five o’clock shadow. Like the hair on his head, Shaun’s hair is a pitch or jet black color. His eyes are a pure and deep hazel. Ever since childhood, Shaun was always a rather skinny individual and it wasn’t until he started football in freshman year of high school did he start to ‘bulk up’. Shaun’s current build is rather average but he does have a bit of muscle in his biceps and his pecs if anything.

Shaun Reid is the firstborn child to Beverly and Curtis Reid. He was born on October 22nd, 1990. Two years later and his sister would follow suit and enter the world on January 14th, 1992. Both Shaun and Emma Reid had a rather simple and privileged life. Their father, Curtis, was a veterinarian, while their mother, Beverly, was a high school teacher. Shaun since his childhood always had a rather confident attitude and never took things super seriously until much later in his life. He was a near social butterfly and got along with just about everyone in grade school. By fourth grade, he was deemed as one of the ‘popular’ kids and that reputation carried with him well into high school. His popularity, or notoriety, mostly helped Emma as she made her way through the grades in school. Most teachers knew of Shaun and always would ask her, “do you have a brother? Shaun?”. It was a phrase that would be heard often. When Shaun was in junior year, the family moved from Plymouth, TX to Haven, TX. Their parents were everything the siblings ever hoped for. They were kind, loving, caring, understanding, and even already saved money for their college tuitions for when the time came. Shaun attended church with his family whenever they went. Over the years, Shaun and Emma both met and grew close with Father Morgan, the preacher at the church they frequented. Shaun only stayed at the church for another four years before he packed his bags and left to study Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Columbia in New York City.
Shaun became fascinated with learning how the brain functioned and what made people tick from a young age. His sister, Emma, suffered from anxiety. She was always jumpy, fearful, overcaring, and sometimes paranoid. It was enough that it made Shaun begin to question why her mind worked that way and how he could possibly help it. She never received professional help due to the family’s religious views and beliefs but Shaun was convinced and his career choice was cemented by the time he reached high school. It was a massive undertaking and his future was to be filled with more schooling after he graduated from high school. His parents, while they didn’t support his career choice, supported his future and still paid for his full college expenses as they originally intended. The grades that Shaun earned in high school paved the way for receiving a scholarship to Columbia University, which is where he ended up going to study for Psychiatry and Psychology right after he left high school. Before he left, he wished his sister goodbye and promised to return as soon as he was able to.
His time at college was rough. He had never spent so much time away from home before and he was in a foreign place with people he did not know. It would have been an understatement to say that he was nervous and even quite scared. He was surrounded by people who were just like him. They were all academically prolific and efficient within their own fields of expertise. He felt like the inferior one. He felt as if he was swimming in a sea and everyone else were the sharks. Shaun wasn’t the only one worrying, however. His sister called him practically every single day to ensure her brother was still breathing and pushing himself each and every day to achieve the education and career of his dreams. For the next ten years, he was hard at work within the Big Apple to not only make a name for himself but to continue his life. He studied relentlessly, worked relentlessly, and even found himself taking part in a few internships with therapeutic practices. During his time in New York, he managed to find himself in a relationship with a fellow student at Columbia. She was last known to be in New York when the outbreak began.
By the end of the spring semester in 2019, Shaun booked a flight back home in order to see his friends and family once more. It had been far too long since he last saw his sister even. He wondered if they would remember what he looked like. When Shaun left, he was still a young and naive young man. He was still new to the world and how it worked. He was coming back a grown man. One that actually had some facial hair and not the clean babyface his parents last saw him with. He arrived in Haven by the middle of May the night before the outbreak occurred. Shaun watched as the world around him began to descend into chaos. The phone lines were down and the roads were a nightmare. It would have been nearly impossible to make it to his parent’s house on foot. It would have been suicide. He found a group of survivors early into the outbreak who were friendly. They had been on their way to Plymouth and so Shaun joined them. If there was one place he knew his sister would go, it would have been back to the old church he always used to frequent when he lived with his parents. Unfortunately, things did not go exactly as planned.
Shaun found himself besieged by zombies during the night. One of the survivors in the group betrayed them and led them straight to the camp in order to get revenge on one of the women for cheating on him. Shaun luckily managed to escape with little to no injuries but he was on his own yet again. After a few days of trekking and surviving on scraps, he reached Plymouth..and the church he always used to go to as a child.
