Character Name
Bethany Shepard
I Agree
Yes
Has this character appeared in a previous lore?
No
Age
32
Personality
Despite growing up shy, always known as the "quiet kid" in school, Bethany broke out of her shell after high school and found her voice in college. She is passionate about helping people, which is why she pursued her studies in civil rights law. She is the type of person to pull over on the side of the road during a blizzard and help someone change a flat tire or give them a lift. Despite her warm appearance, she occasionally struggles with bouts of paralyzing depression, something her family has a history of dealing with as well. During these hard times, she isolates herself from her friends and loved ones, and spends her days brooding and vegetating in bed with the curtains drawn until the storm passes.
Physical Appearance
Bethany is a brown-eyed brunette. She usually wears her hair down and without effort, because who has time to style their hair when they're taking care of an unruly toddler? She is rather fair-skinned for someone with Greek and Italian heritage. She is on the heavier side of average weight for her 5-foot-6 stature, probably because she can't fit "gym time" in her busy schedule. She is very self-conscious about her looks, mostly because she was teased about having a "big nose" growing up, so she wouldn't be caught dead without a full face of makeup — unless she were stranded on a deserted island.

Biography
Bethany Shepard (née Lombardi) was born in Brooklyn in the late '80s, raised an only child by her single mother. She grew up poor despite her mother juggling jobs. Throughout high school, Bethany worked several jobs of her own to help out her mom. She managed to get through college by taking out student loans. In law school, she met her husband, James Shepard. He was from England and attended school while on a student visa. They dated for only a year before James proposed. Soon after, their son was born, a little boy named Oliver.
Bethany and James were eager to introduce Oliver to his grandparents in England, but decided to wait until he was a bit older before flying transatlantic. A few weeks after his 4th birthday, Bethany and James planned a long-awaited trip to London during summer. On June 28th, the happy little family embarked for their family vacation to England, only for their plane to be wiped out by a devastating storm.
Bethany awakens on the beach upon hearing the screams of distressed survivors. Dazed by the crash and barely able to see straight, she quickly realizes what happened. She panics and calls out for Oliver and James. And then she spots them. Their lifeless, charred bodies crushed under burning wreckage. She lets out a blood-curdling cry, trying to salvage what's left of them. Another passenger who survived sees Bethany struggling and nearly catching fire, and drags her away to safety from the crash site.
