≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

18

Which timezone do you primarily live in?
CST

Approximately how many hours have you played on Gateway?
More than 10

Approximately how many hours do you play a week?
Server ain't up yet

Describe your roleplay experience.
I've been apart of a Project Zomboid roleplay server at some capacity since I was probably about 13 or 14. Though PZ is the only game that I can bring myself to RP in I feel like I've gained a good understanding of what makes characters interesting and organic. For the past 2 or so years I've been doing the behind the scenes work for a server called PZRP (now called Reanimated RP) helping with lore, restructuring the way the server works, I was the one who introduced events on the server, and all that other good David Copperfield kinda crap. Since then I've done more of an overseer role, making sure everyone is always doing something to get the server to a launchable state and helping them where needed.

Have you ever been involved in roleplay leadership and/or creating a lore?
Yep

Have you ever been an admin on an online game? if so, for what groups and for how long?
Oh sweet I get to brag! Yes I have!

Project Zomboid hardcore survival - Mod for a few months in 2013
Massivecraft RP - I was an event coordinator for about 4 months in 2015 or something. It was a Minecraft RP server... I was young, okay?
Bannerlord Fan Group Discord (now defunct) and Steam Group - A moderator then Admin about 7 months, at the height of it we had around 5000 Discord members and around 70,000 members of the steam group (which still exists)
/r/BethesdaSoftworks Subreddit and Discord - I'm an admin there, Sub has 40,000~ members and the Discord is climbing through 1000, we occasionally host other subs/youtubers/creators and creators to have events on our platform
PZRP/Reanimated RP - Admin, previous Lore Masta, general Alpha gamer. Have been doing that in some form for years now. Ya kno da story

Do you have any skills that could help the team?
I've got some pictures of my 4 cats, but other than that I like to think i'm pretty versed in community management, holding events, writing (though It's tough for me to get inspiration) and I'm learning how to use the PZ mapping tool. Other than that i've usually got a lot of time on my cold, dead hands.

What do you think you may need to improve upon in terms of being an admin?
Need to be less of a lurker

If you had to suggest a change to the way things are done on Gateway, what would it be?
Better coordination, making sure everyone has the time commitment necessary before starting on a new project and delegating roles and tasks based on what people can handle.
