Blood Type

Personality
Adrian primarily looks out for himself; growing up in Ponce, he understands that when problems arise, everyone is going to look out for themselves. He’s generally uncaring on how others perceive his actions and tends to think more in the moment than in the big picture. The one major exception for Adrian is family, whether it be by blood or through an organization like the Marines. Though he is still cognizant of his own well being, he’s more likely to sacrifice for family.
Character Motivations
Prior to the outbreak, Adrian was another disenfranchised veteran looking for some way to secure a stable life. However, drawn in by a former Marine friend, he found himself entangled in the Latin Kings gang in San Antonio. After a couple years, he tried to make a break for it, finding himself in Kentucky when the outbreak of Corto Virus ripped through the nation. Under the belief that this is only a temporary problem, he hopes that the viral diversion can help him make his way to the East Coast where he can join his cousin and lay low and find a way to a better life.
Physical Appearance
He stands off to the side with his arms crossed, scanning his surroundings; he gives off a stern, yet somewhat tired gaze. Standing at a solid 5’10 and weighing 168 pounds, he shifts his weight as he tries to make himself comfortable. His tanned complexion is accompanied by a short, black buzz cut, alluding to his prior service whilst remaining functional and lo maintenance. Holding that tired gaze, he hazards to check his watch for the time. His grey t-shirt loosely hugs his body, denoting his toned frame alongside his muscles poking from the sleeves. A couple tattoos poke forth past his sleeves along both arms, denoting some clear time in military service. More may lie beneath his shirt. Crisp dark denim jeans and a fresh leather belt help wrap up the ensemble, capped off with coyote brown Danner boots.

Biography
Adrian Morales was born on November 22nd, 1985 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Rubio and Valeria Morales. A generally lower income family, his mother and father worked together with a small ice cream shop in the middle of town. Despite their shortcomings, in income, the Morales family lived nicely in Ponce, doing their best to put their children through education. The third child in what would become a five child family, Adrian was never without company often following his elder brother Juan around.
Growing up in 1980s and ‘90s Ponce, he watched as the city began to grow larger as business grew. Although his family at times struggled, Adrian still grew up in the care of his loving family. Not a genius by any means, Adrian displayed a knack for numbers. With this in mind, his parents sought to put him into one of the private college preparatory schools in town. Through his mother’s connections, he soon found himself Colegio Ponceno, a Roman Catholic institution. He struggled much of his way through the grades, but his interest in mathematics kept him going as he continued through the grades.
When the September 11th attacks in New York occurred, Adrian was 17 and in his junior year at Colegio Ponceno. Though he didn’t particularly desire to enlist in the military, he understood that it was of the most common and ways of getting off the island. Only a few days after the attacks, Adrian’s older sister Maria returned home, announcing that she had enlisted with the Army, much to their parents' chagrin. After a month, she left for Fort Benning. Although he was considering the same thing, his parents barred him from signing up; he was too young to sign off on his own and still attending school. His parents hoped he would apply for college in the mainland, having achieved relatively good scores on the SAT.
When Adrian finally graduated in 2002, he looked at his prospects. On one hand, college afforded great opportunities. However, egged on by friends that were looking for adventure, he joined them as they went to the Marine Recruiting Office. His mother was devastated when he announced what he was done, and he was ordered out of the house. Tensions flared between him and his parents as he awaited his flight to Camp Pendleton in California. On the final day, he apologized to his parents and promised that he would go to college after his service ended. With that, he took his few allotted belongings and made his way to San Juan to fly out.
Arriving at Camp Pendleton, Adrian Morales was assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines. Here he would learn all the skills expected of a Marine, including discipline, honor, and marksmanship. He would complete boot camp and basic training by the end of 2002, just in time for the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. Here 3/5 Marines would participate in overthrowing Sadam Hussein. The following year, Morales would participate in the Second Battle of Fallujah. In total he would serve two tours overseas.
When he returned home in late 2005, Morales faced some struggles readjusting to civilian life. Much of his life was dictated by the military, and he had developed a sense of family with the men and women he worked with in 3/5. Following up on his promise to his parents, he tried college, using his GI Bill to enroll at UC Berkeley. However he would only manage to go through one year before dropping out.
Facing these problems, Morales received a call from his brother Juan in Houston, Texas, offering to help him get on his feet after serving and struggling with higher education. It was here where Adrian would work for the next couple years doing a number of odd jobs for his brother and others in the area. However, despite his credentials and abilities, he found himself struggling to get past things he had seen during his service. As the country fell into what would be known as the Great Recession, Morales found himself out of the job. When a former Marine friend in San Antonio contacted him telling him that he had work he could help with, Adrian went along. It was there that he would find himself mired in gang work with the San Antonio branch of the Latin Kings. His expertise for numbers and skill with a rifle were well valued by the gang, despite his reception towards becoming a member feeling rather lukewarm. Still, he valued being part of some sort of family, and considering the recession, he was in desperate need of the money. Whilst in San Antonio, he worked as a warehouse worker by day whilst helping with a variety of jobs, including crunching numbers and working logistics on drugs for the gang. He always did his best to avoid some of the more violent aspects of gang life.
After witnessing several violent encounters, including the near death injury of the friend that had brought him to San Antonio, Adrian had had enough. He began making plans to leave in late 2012 and early 2013. All the while, the warning signs of a coming virus seemed to grow. Still, it wasn’t on his mind all that much. There were more pressing issues. He had money put aside, had quit his job, and got ready. A duffel bag with some things, his car, and he was ready. In the early morning on March 1st, he began driving from San Antonio east. He hoped he could join a couple of his cousins in Virginia and lay low with them for the time being. He had noticed things were getting more concerning about some virus… still not as concerning as his current ordeal. His car lurched forward and Eastward he began...
