Has this character appeared in a previous lore?
No
Age

Blood Type

Personality
Donna's personality changed after the accident. Originally a cheerful woman whose main loves were children's education and nature preservation, the loss of her husband drove her trauma and her interests turned a little darker. She became obsessed with survival and 'being ready', and joined a community of conspiracy theorists and preppers in a misguided dream of security. Her tendencies to see hidden signs and dark purposes in everyday things has only gotten worse since the disaster, paranoia turning her headstrong tendencies into overdrive. She's simultaneously unbreakable and already broken, able to step into a leadership role one moment and then completely breaking down in the next.
Donna cannot help but to try and 'adopt' other characters and mother them, especially girls around her daughter's age... whether they want it or not.
Character Motivations
Donna's obsession with providing 'security and survival' is both a blessing and a curse. The death of her husband and the estrangement of her daughter first led her to extreme isolation, but after the disaster happened, she suddenly found herself being sought out and needed by people again. This complete social 180 has done her no favors, and the disaster itself and the decline of society has only justified her extreme reactions in her mind. But people need her now. She'll protect her new group, and they'll be ready... no matter the fucking cost.
Physical Appearance
Donna is a tall and thin middle-aged white woman with no unique features, standing nearly 5'10 with copper hair and light eyes.

Biography
Donna is a native of Arkansas and had a keen interest in nature and wildlife as a young girl, blossoming into a career with park services and the hunting/fishing licensing office. Though she dreamed of being stationed as a ranger in one of the more famous parks like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone, she ended up meeting a fellow government worker from nearby Kentucky and instead married and settled down with husband Thomas Owens in her early 20s. They had one daughter, Sadie, and moved into the same neighborhood that her husband grew up in. She began teaching children's programs with wildlife conservation in mind, and quickly became the 'cool mom' who would grace classrooms around the state with visits from tamed raccoons and rescued owls.
Five years ago, Thomas left to pick up the now-adult Sadie from the airport to drive her home. Sadie had moved off to California after college to pursue a dream in acting, but was soon disheartened and missed home and wanted to visit, and her parents were enthusiastic to have her. Donna declined going with on the drive, staying behind to finish putting the final touches on her daughter's favorite meal to welcome her back. As the hour grew later and chances of a traffic jam grew slimmer, Donna started to get worried. Phone calls went unanswered, and when her phone finally did ring, it was the police. The old family car had blown a tire, and Thomas and Sadie had gone off the side of an embankment. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene, and Sadie was rushed to the hospital.
Thomas's death triggered something in Donna that went beyond grief. After planning the funeral, handling hospital bills, and tending to her daughter's physical therapy, she began pressuring Sadie to move home. She began refurbishing her child's old room back into a bedroom, began ordering supplies in bulk, and bought vitamins and homeopathic medicines to keep them healthy so they 'wouldn't lose each other too'. She began joining websites and groups about doomsday, death, and preparation- obsessing over ways to keep her and her daughter safe. Despite Sadie's protests and urges for therapy, Donna's paranoias only grew when her daughter became obstinant and started talking about returning to her own life back west. Things came to a head when Donna desperately called the airlines and used Sadie's identity and information to cancel her flight back to California, and Sadie opened the door to find her bags unpacked and Donna preparing that favorite meal that she'd never gotten to eat on that fateful night of the crash.
The two fought and Sadie left for good, and Donna went further into her spiral. Returning to her ranger work, she began hoarding supplies at their stations and her new cabin in the woods and spending more and more time away from society, embroiled in conspiracy and survival prep. Her attempts at reconciling with her daughter and coaxing her back home have ended in more failure and bad blood, and for the last few years, Sadie merely ignores her.
Donna tried to call Sadie again when it all fell apart, but it went to voicemail. She had called to urge her home one last time...She meant it this time. They would have enough food and water, they would have shelter, they'd be safe from the virus, they'd be safe from everything. They could be a family again. She hoped that Sadie was safe, and that she had already evacuated the city, and if she got this message, to start trying to head inland- back to the safety of rural areas and back towards home.
Because death was coming, and she had been right. She'd been right all along.
