Eccentric. Anne's demeanor errs towards erratic, bombastic, and just a touch unhinged, but that's not to say she's unintelligent or unkind; her moral compass is on-point and she cares for the people that allow her in their circles. Social situations notwithstanding, she knows exactly what she's doing, she'll have you know. And I mean that. She will.
Character Motivations
Anne believes strongly in being true to herself and helping others. That means lots and lots of identity fraud. She uses a series of forged degrees and paperwork to help those who can't quite afford proper healthcare, then bounces to the next town before someone can sniff out her many, many lies. She's only in town for a couple of months at most, typically, until she deigns it's wise to lay low. Her personality can leave something of an impression that makes this pattern difficult, but she gets by nonetheless. It helps that she's quite a good doctor.

Biography
Annabelle Louise Gessic is an energetic sort with a zest for medicine; ever since she was a child, she's been as eager to unravel the oldest mysteries of science as she is to tend the maladies of today. Hardly a prodigy, but you'd think she'd sail through school, through college, towards a promising career as a physician with flying colors. And she almost did, too! Her grades soared where perhaps her social life waned, throwing herself deep into her studies and skirling through middle school, highschool, and the first fleeting years of college like a hurricane... until the restrictions of professional medicine began to weigh on her, and the hippocratic oath struck a nerve.
Did you know that human experimentation is /illegal/ these days? Maybe for good reasons, she'll allow, and it's not as though she's ever had an interest in it herself, but Anne is a woman with a distaste for limitation, theoretical or otherwise, something that played only a minor roadblock in her school life until university. The scrutiny of peers and professors in a field she's talented in taxed her patience-- the failings of bureaucratic healthcare systems an irksome setback-- the political, social and economic barriers between her and patients that require aid infuriating. No, she wouldn't have any of /that/, thank-you-very-much. With an evident penchant for forgery and what few connections she'd networked, she'd taken to bouncing from downtown district to downtown district, slum to slum, small town to small town, doing what she can and moving on before word catches on about the unlicensed doctor skulking and malpracticing around.
It's taken her to curious places-- the dens of inner-city gangs, the forgotten corners of society, the occasional eclectic cult commune, but she's met with generosity often enough that she gets by with relative ease, and rare is the patient she'll turn down. Rough living does not dissuade her-- which was a boon in and of itself when her country-trotting humanitarian efforts brought her into Kentucky, ill-fated as that might be, but considering what's to come... well, like most things, it'll be only a minor setback for Annabelle.
