Dwight believes in doing the right thing, no matter the cost. He's experienced firsthand how people in the world will casually harm others in terrible ways simply to improve their own lives. Dwight's believes that the ends justify the means, at least in a majority of cases.
He chooses action while others are content with the "wait and see" approach. Doing nothing is a choice he never considers, and believes that if someone would just take action, tragedy can be prevented. He's good in a crisis and is first to throw himself in danger to protect other people.
He despises those who harm others for personal gain and has a strong sense of justice that can sometimes override his moral compass, and at other times endanger himself.

Biography
When he was eight years old, Dwight's mother was killed in a bridge collapse that claimed the lives of thirty other motorists and put his small town under the national spotlight. While struggling to come to terms with the loss of his mother, investigative journalists revealed that crooked dealings by the mayor in efforts to line his pockets were the cause of the tragedy.
Dwight's home life took a drastic hit in the years that followed. Dwight's father was the chief of police, and had been left completely in the dark over the mayor's activities. His life revolved almost exclusively around his job, so Dwight was forced to fend for himself. His father was away from home even more than usual in the years after his mother’s death, clearly blaming himself over the tragic events that changed the town forever.
While justice was dealt to the disgraced mayor, a long sentence that would no doubt see him die in prison, it still didn't undo the damage done to those thirty lives, Dwight's mother included. Despite his father's absence from the home, Dwight followed his father’s career path to become a police officer. While he still loved his father very much, he was driven to succeed in areas where his father had failed.
Upon graduating from the police academy, he was assigned to the West Point Police Department right as talk of a strange flu-like virus began to pop up across the country. He boarded a train to Valley Station and planned to meet with his would-be partner in a week’s time.
