≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

    After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

    This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

    Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

Biography
Sometimes, its hard to make up for your past mistakes. In 2014, in the heat of the moment, Charlotte took a car and left the Valley Station Mall, not knowing where she was headed, she left. She eventually made her way back to the smoldering ruins on Chicago, where, she had an epiphany. She needed to stop running for her problems. With that, she returned to Valley Station only to find the mall a smoldering ruin, with her group nowhere to be seen. The local rangers filled her in on what happened. The cultists, the gunfight, the executions. They did not however, know where the rest of the group went off to after that, only that they took off in a hurry. With that, Charlotte left Kentucky, and began wandering around the former United States for the next 10 years until her group found themselves in Upstate New York, in the newly founded town of Monroe. She stuck around, for reasons she doesn't even know. Maybe it was the general safety, maybe it reminded her of people she knew. Charlotte made a decision, that she wouldn't run again, that she will face her problems head on, or die defending those she cares about.


Relationships - From What We Become
Stephanie LloydEven in 2028, Charlotte still seems to feel immence emotion regarding the circumstances of Lloyd's death. Charlotte now sports a tattoo on her neck that says "RIP Steph", though it is hard to see due to her scarf being in the way most of the time.
Clarence EmersonCharlotte's relationship with her father is not touched on as much as in What We Become, however, he is bought up in a coversation with Arlo with Charlotte quietly saying "god rest his soul" afterwords.
LynchDespite traveling together for a time, Charlotte does not recognize Lynch, though she did comment that she "looked familiar. It is unknown if Lynch recognizes Charlotte."
Rebecca StaytonCharlotte does not recognize Rebecca, nor does Rebecca seem to recognize Charlotte, with Rebecca entrance interview going by with Rebecca being able to provide a fake surname to Charlotte.
Sepp JunkersCharlotte and Sepp do not talk to each other much, wtih Sepp likely continuing to hold some anomosity towards Charlotte for some of the events that occured 12 years prior. Charlotte still calls Sepp "tats" despite Sepp no longer having tattoos.
Relationships - Monroe Residents
Julian Carmichael-OrtizCharlotte and Julian have not interacted enough to determine how one feels about the other. However, it is clear that Charlotte has a level of respect for Julian.
Charles GideonCharles is Charlotte's boss, and, as such, Charlotte has a vast amount of respect for him, defering to his judgement as the head of Monroe Security
Marian CastleMarian is Charlotte's co-worker, and both seem to interact frequently on a professional basis.
Arlo GreyArlo and Charlotte seem to get along well, with both making small talk about their lives, something Charlotte usually doesn't do with many people.
Relationships - Other
Takeshi TongCharlotte doesn't believe Takeshi's story about being a hitman, and believes hes lying to make himself look cool. Charlotte is unsure of his motives if that indeed is the case, but, Charlotte got the so called "truth" out of him.
