Blood Type

Personality
He’s a hardened and firm handed individual, strong to his ideas and protective of his family and his group as a whole. He’s a brave and courageous individual willing to take risks; and with family and group at risk, he has been shown to do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Despite this, however, he’s rather hotheaded and prone to anger, almost explosively-so. When he does explode in anger, he tends to explode violently and either verbally or physically abuse those around him, barring his family of course, and he has few qualms with hurting anyone he deems deserving of being hurt, especially bandits and raiders trying to steal from him or wrong him; and he has also show himself to be a capable leader, not afraid to make the tough choices that need to be made in the name of the groups prosperity, willing to shed blood and kill in the name of group and family. Richard has a few wants out of life, those being safety, security, family, and love and he will carve a path out of nothing to have the things he wants, even if it means the downfall of anyone who could seek to threaten those things or take them away from him. Ricky is not above stealing nor is he above murder, though he tends to prefer having justifications for said actions, whether needing food to survive or defending himself from an attacker- or even killing a surrendering man to avoid them coming back with more people in the future. He attempts to work extra hard in his day to day life to feel more valuable and useful, getting quite down when he feels like he's not applying himself enough. Furthermore, he tends to be blunt and crude when you do manage to get him to open up, otherwise he's simply a loner and sticks to what he knows best: Established relationships and family.
Character Motivations
Richard is primarily motivated by family, being a devoted family man through and through and doing his best to provide, even if his idea of providing is hurting another man for what they have. He holds the group above all things, knowing the group is his best chance of survival and that family is one of the few things he has left in the post-apocalyptic world. He feels that if he were to lose his family or his group, the tide of the world would crash over him and he would never be able to swim up in time before he suffocates, and so he works to establish relations and keep what relationships he manages to form on the off-chance he finds a fellow survivor; and at the end of the day all he wants is to have a stable home to settle down.
Physical Appearance
Richard Brooks is a man standing about 6'1 in height and about 182 lbs. He has a large scar on his right cheek and beady brown eyes, his hair overgrown and unkempt and his beard quite bushy; and in his hair he has multiple gray hair streaks which are more noticeable in his beard particularly, all due to the stress of post apocalyptic life and his overwhelming stress of not being able to provide enough. His body is covered in old scars and wounds, all due to the hardships he's faced in his struggle to survive, from a gunshot wound on his abdomen to multiple slash and stab scars on his forearms and biceps. Richard can typically be found wearing a purple sweater, jeans, and boots, with the sweater being a gift from his long-deceased son.

Biography
Richard Brooks was a Fire Captain for the Winchester Fire Dept. in Kentucky, living a happy life with his wife and son, Thomas, though this all changed once the outbreak began. Richard quickly left the city with his wife, son, and best friend, Darryl Lindsay. They survived at the Zilpo Campground in Bath County, KY for multiple weeks, fishing in the lake and sleeping in tents that they scavenged from abandoned campgrounds in the area, though they were soon attacked by bandits and split up, leaving the fate of Darryl unknown as they fled from the campground and back to the cities, where they continued to survive, scrounging off what little remained and taking what wasn't already taken. Richard and his family lived like this for almost three years, running from city to city, stealing, and killing to keep getting food and necessary supplies to keep going. However, Richard's life took a turn for the worst when his son, Thomas, was bit by one of the infected. Richard begged and pleaded to the heavens to not take his boy, but the heavens did not care for the circumstances he was in and the infection claimed the life of his son, the young boy succumbing to the fever and dying. Richard was unable to muster the strength to pull the trigger and simply left, leaving his son to turn which he regrets to this day and attributes to much of his current personality, his explosive anger and obvious signs of depression and his loner personality and will to provide as much as he possibly can. He's continued on for years and years, carrying blame and regret on his shoulders for everything wrong that happened to his family and the mistakes he made, but he's continued on and eventually arrived in the cold expanses of post-apocalyptic New York, seeking new life and a stable home to.. maybe not rebuild his family, but save what remains of it.
