Joseph never lost his ideal that most people were good, even during the apocalypse. Some people don't consider him dangerous after they meet him, and often people are over protective of him. He just wants to survive, but he doesn't believe in hurting people to do it. Even though he tends to trust people, he has grown anxious, always seems to turn and shift, looking over his shoulder for any surprises.
Character Motivations
Joseph has been aimless. He had always wanted to be an athlete, but now there was nothing to compete for. Running was no longer the hobby he enjoyed as a child, but a tool for survival ,and it lost its enjoyment. He wants to be able to help back to whatever group he's a part of.
Physical Appearance
Joseph is tall and lanky, being 6'2" tall, but weighing only about 160 pounds. His skin is tan from too much time in the sun, although his freckles are still visible on his arms and his face. His brown hair is short and badly cut. Joseph's eyes are green, with a tinge of blue around the outer rim. His nose is thick, but short, and his lips are fine. He has stubble on his cheek, but it never seems to grow any thicker. He usually goes without a shirt, unless the cold forces him. His pants are torn, but his shoes are in excellent condition. He always searches for a new pair when his become too worn.

Biography
Joseph was born in Maine, his parents a family real estate office. He was born deaf, but he never wanted that disability to stop him from moving forward. He quickly learned sign language, and even learned limited lip reading with the help of his parents. He refused to go to a special school, and his teachers helped him do well in class. He took track and field in middle school, hoping to one day be an Olympian medalist.
Joseph was only twelve when the red eyes rampaged the world. His mother died in the beginning, and his father raised him after that. They traveled from commune to commune, always leaving when eventually the communes fell. They had been lucky for years, but that luck finally ran out a year ago, when his father died during a routine collection mission.
Joseph stayed with that commune for another eight months, before it eventually fell to the red eyes. He decided to travel south, knowing the winter would be dangerous alone, and ended up in Monroe before he had to stop from the cold.

I would like Joseph to start with some sort of weapon, like a bat.
