Akasaka is a deeply sick woman. Her obsession with the virus has consumed her over the years to the point of madness and has eroded any sense of humanity left in her. Her experiments, while initially conducted for the greater good, have instead made her a sadistic, morbid person.
She is an extremely rigid woman, as well. She has a cold, businesslike demeanor, and it’s rare to see her smiling or pulling many facial expressions. Her team is handled with an iron grip, and she will frequently punish them to assert her control. She refuses to fight or run, or otherwise get her hands dirty in any way if she doesn’t need to.
Character Motivations
Akasaka’s only goal is to discover more information about the virus and its origins. She frequently conducts experiments on red eyes, animals, and humans to learn more about it, and has overseen a few teams exploring abandoned military and scientific compounds.
Akasaka is only supplied by Brighton because of her character. Her obsession and knowledge of the virus, coupled with her psychotic tendencies, has made her a reliable worker. As long as Brighton supplies her with her equipment then she has no reason to doubt their orders, and they have no reason to doubt her methods.
Physical Appearance
Akasaka is a short, slim middle-aged Japanese woman. She typically wears immaculately clean, elegant clothes and prefers lighter shades. She has pulled back black hair and wears no makeup. Her left hand has been fully replaced by a mechanical gadget, and there are thin blades in place of her fingers.

Biography
Asuka Akasaka oversaw a team of Japanese microbiologists who worked in cooperation with the National Institute of Infectious Disease. They primarily studied diseases and viruses in order to assist in vaccine development and functioned on a cooperative political campaign with the United States to combine efforts. However, despite her influential work, she led a rather sad life outside of her job. She divorced a few times, was put on numerous medications over the years, and subsequently struggled with substance abuse.
As the early stages of the outbreak surfaced, her team was understandably overwhelmed and she suffered a psychotic break. She became obsessed with the virus and was enamored by its origins and effects. It was unlike anything she had ever seen, and she became convinced that she was on the verge of understanding it. She ignored all of the governments’ demands and pushed her team even further despite their pleas to return home. Eventually, society collapsed to a point in which they were forced to flee alongside everyone else, and she joined with her brother, Saito, along with many other coworkers and families.
After a few years of unimaginable suffering, her remaining team was eventually scouted and fully absorbed into Brighton. Over time, she began to fill more positions within the community and was encouraged to resume her research. It wasn’t long before she met a dead end and required human subjects to function as lab rats. Depending on the subject, however, she would oftentimes terrorize and assert her control over them in an unprofessional way. She began to intentionally infect patients she didn’t care for with the virus and began to conduct monstrous experiments on them in an effort to further her research.
As long as Akakasa didn’t exploit useful members within the community, the heads of Brighton would mostly turn a blind eye to what she was doing. Most of the people there were unaware of her nature, and she quickly climbed up the chain of command, which allowed her to control others more and progress her research. As she was slowly supplied more resources, Akasaka fell deeper into her obsession with the virus and even intentionally infected herself to observe its progression. Her left hand was then promptly amputated, although she received a mechanical hand years later for her services.
As of now, Akasaka is a high ranking official of Brighton and fully exploits her position to further her professional and personal needs. She has recently decided she needs to leave the safety of Brighton's walls to further study the virus outside of a lab setting and has partnered with her brother and requested a formal team to assist her.
