Biography
Childhood- The Mauro family was always a peculiar one, having always shunned society for one reason or another. Oliver and Catherine Mauro raised their two boys, Isaac and Abram instilling the fact that the world was falling apart they needed to distance themselves from it. It wasn't long before Oliver and Catherine sold the majority of their possessions and moved the family out into mountains on some remote property they had purchased. A small cabin barely large enough for the 4 of them, but it would become home. At first things were good, the boys enjoyed exploring the property, their new found adventure, not so much the long list of chores and labor they were now made to do in order to provide for themselves at such a young age. There was no more school, no trips to the grocery, no modern amenities, this was frontier living in a modern age.
Passing of the Patriarch- Many years had passed, not all of them easy but not at all terrible. Oliver was strict with the boys but he had worked hard to provide for his family, and as Isaac and Abram grew into young teens they handled more responsibilities. It was one particularly harsh winter when Oliver was hunting for Elk that he fell down a snow drift, one he should have known was there but still managed to misstep. The family didn't find his body until the thaw, Oliver thankfully had landed on a rock and snapped his neck, died on impact rather than freezing to death. This only gave minor relief, as Catherine began to descend into a grief she would slowly turn against her own children.
The Witch- Catherine was always the true instigator behind most of the family's eccentricity, truth be told. She had a strong fundamentalist christian background, and even though Oliver didn't share her beliefs she often would pray in private. She was the one who placed all the ideas about how the world was corrupt, and things would only get worse, and in order to protect the children they should move far away. Now that had backfired, rather than blame herself she blamed her children. If she never had Isaac and Abram, she would never have had to protect them and never have had to move out here, and thus Oliver would still be alive, or so she told herself. In the ongoing years her abuse would be start as small acts of passive aggression, giving them extra chores that had no significance even though it interfered with their actual survival. It then would escalate to her beating them, and openly guilt tripping them for their fathers death on a regular basis as she ordered them about while foregoing any work herself. Isaac coping mechanism for this was to shut down, in a way, to regress and endure it all in silence. However, Abrams did not fare so well as he could often be heard weeping when believed no one else could hear...
Burn The Witch- Everyone has their breaking point, even two boys who were raised to never defy or question their parents. Even though they were grown men, they were still under the heel of their mother who was growing more callous and abusive each day. It seemed her way of coping with the loss of her husband was to unleash hell upon her children. Isaac, who had been enduring it all by withdrawing deep inside himself had only been holding on to bits of himself was becoming more distant by the day while Abram was nearly out of tears. It was late in the evening when Abram was coming back from hunting when he heard his mother yelling at Isaac, he also heard the familiar sound of lashing as well. It wasn't until he walked inside he screamed, seeing his brother bleeding profusely as his mother stood over him with a fire-poker. Isaac was still conscious but merely lay there, and received the blows as he disassociated so deeply he no longer had the will to resist. Abrams screamed louder, he could no longer take it, seeing his mother about to kill his brother was the final straw as he lunged at her tackling her to the floor. She had no time to defend herself or say a word before Abram's massive fists began pounding into her skull, the first few strikes killed her for sure but the next several dozen were carried on out of pure rage.
((Long story short, Abrams cares for Isaac until Isaac kills himself and comes back as a zombie which causes him to have a mental break where he takes Isaac's name for himself and flees the mountains. He's better now, still calls himself Isaac, still withdrawn and fairly simple due to his upbringing and sensitive to certain hostile stimuli but actually friendly to those who are friendly to him. I would have finished my novel but I am very tired as of now, and was wanting to play like.. 3 hours ago? I have a problem))
Would you like your character to start with any items?
An axe, and poncho.
Would you like your character to start with any skills?
Keep in mind this character will be incapable of certain mechanical skills involving complex intellect, such as Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, I know I cannot disable them but I will be role playing this. This character will also be illiterate, as he was never taught how to read. He is not intellectually disabled, but more that his experiences have caused him to regress into a more simple being, and living a life focused on labor, physical tasks, survival, and being born genetically gifted for strength result in my following choices.
Strength 8 or 10 (He's a bear wearing human clothes)
Fitness 6 (He's an older man, but constantly moving, working, and in laboring)
Trapping 4 (Being as large as he is, sneaking around for hunts was never his forte)
Foraging 5 (You'd be surprised how full you can get off berries and earthworms)
I would also imagine he would have some sort of experience in either unarmed combat or bladed (axes) but since I'm not sure what version of skills/traits you're using and I don't know where on this site it's posted and I'm way too exhausted at this point to go searching for another hour to find it (it's not easily accessible) I'll let whoever reviews this or approves this decide or maybe decide on nothing. At this point I just want to play.
