≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

Armor System

Armor acts as an extension of a character's HP pool for added defense.

To search for a specific piece of armor, use CTRL+F.

Armor System Overview

  • Armor increases a character's HP pool for added defense until it is destroyed.
    • Armor condition is persistent throughout a single event, meaning the added HP can deplete over multiple combat scenarios and cannot be restored by medical items.
    • Once a set of armor is destroyed, it must be replaced; it cannot be used again.

  • All armor sets in the game are split into three categories: Civilian, Police, and Military.
    • Civilian armor provides +5HP.
    • Police armor provides +10HP.
    • Military armor provides +15HP.

  • Armor-Percing attacks deplete the target's base HP pool.
    • When making an Armor-Piercing attack, roll 1D5 in addition to your weapon's base damage to determine how much damage is sustained.

  • So as to not complicate the system, only armored vests are taken into account.
  • Unique variants of armor can be dropped by bosses at the end of a combat scenario, looted during events, or received as a reward for completing quests.
  • Below are lists of the three categories of armor and their respective defense boosts.
