Character Name
(Resource/Reference) Lake Erie: Route, Rations, Trade. & Time
What sort of authorization do you want?

Is there something not listed that you'd like to be authorized for?
This is just some stuff for a recent NPC deployment to Lake Erie Beach. The map and extended character itineraries dive into the details, but the main info, primary, is just a basic outline of the trip, it's intended objectives, how long it'll take, and the general utilities being sent. I like how this stuff is coming along: Just to keep things organized, supply-wise and trade-wise, I've made a little 'OOC travel spot' near the base claim. It'll have everything being used for the trip, divvied out into three shelves / boxes / what's left of the car.
I figure, like:
Based on the journey's successes, failures, triumphs, or disasters (Orgon Trail style), it'd be cool to sort of just pop outside, check the 'OOC travel spot,' and see what awaits in the boxes, yeah? Or, of course, the risk of finding the charred shell of a Mercedes Benz. I figure traveling, trading, etc. will always have those risks, ofc--and this first route is certainly made for a pretty specific objective. In any regard, there's some wayward brainstorming, in here, for potential highway travel imagination around Lake Erie, Buffalo, and the national forests. Crow-esque approaches to travel, etc.
The biggest challenge was definitely in terms of world history and societal developments. I could not stop re-routing the NPCs away from major highways, when looking at the different routes. I always instantly think of that archetypal TWD, Season 1 Atlanta poster--that urban cataclysm, roads are unnavigable type of thing . But with this stuff, after fifteen years, it's cool to think about. I'll likely derp on some stuff, as the mystery / fog of war is inherent--but. Accidentally routing my Crows through a minefield, having strategized a safe visit at presumed traveler's inn, near Bradford or something? I embrace dat.: Getting to jump into the RTS commander's zoom-out chair, during a lore, is honestly something I'd never had expected to get to do--so this is all pretty rad
This post is still being edited as I need to arrange the map, objectives, etc. 'll toss in some of the rationale behind the different route choices, as the're pretty Crow . Some of it's the regular 'ole result of post-apoc daydream-scheme 'what if' scenario. But all else: Stuff like emergent societies, seasonal supply demands ('s'-fuckin'-frigid-mahn'), Pittsburg, Brighton, CPF, Millers, Bartering routes. Pretty fun stuff.

1) Two NPCs, Simone and Barb, (hopefully) return to Monroe around May 6th
(or later, s'all good. this post in general is already kind of last minute--especially with the edits)
2) Requesting info from Tokori:
3) Requesting NPCs for Eototo/John:
4) General trade along the way:
(or later, s'all good. this post in general is already kind of last minute--especially with the edits)
2) Requesting info from Tokori:
General Crow stuff
Man In Red help
(If Tokori isn't there - default to current leader)
3) Requesting NPCs for Eototo/John:
Simone and Barb provide safe passage
Diversion routes, because Crows be getting whacked on highways
4) General trade along the way:
Route-browsing for trade intel
Info resources for Monroe's Commerce
NPC Journey: Monroe to Lake Erie Beach
They left on April 29 (OOC date) (can also say it's later, as this is all sort of last minute)
1) Deliver Eototo's (John's) general Crow gifts.
2) Speak with Tokori (Erie Crow Leader / Man With WIngs) about Barrens events
(Stuff that'd likely occur en route / while visiting The Crows and surrounding towns:)
1) Map out additional route info: This particular route, meant for evasive journeys and non-conflict trade in areas near Brighton and Rochester, would presumably be very valuable to Monroe / Terry / Commerce leadership.
2) Trade general supplies along the way.
3) Listen for any unique events and rumors.
4) If at any time eminent danger were to be considered 'too risky,' Simone and Barb are instructed to return home and/or take preferred paths as needed. It's an important trip, but that stuff is always primary.
They left on April 29 (OOC date) (can also say it's later, as this is all sort of last minute)
In best-case scenario, eta to Monroe is May 2 (OOC date)
8.5 hours there (4.25 hours OOCly)
5-day reside in Erie (2.5 days OOCly)
8.5 hours back (4.25 hours OOCly)
In worst-case scenario, eta to Monroe is May 6 (OOC date)
4.5 days there (2.25 days OOCly)
5-day reside in Erie (2.5 days OOCly)
4.5 days back (2.25 days OOCly)
Objectives (Primary):1) Deliver Eototo's (John's) general Crow gifts.
2) Speak with Tokori (Erie Crow Leader / Man With WIngs) about Barrens events
-Man In Red, Millers' experiments, monster experiments,
3) Request support from Tokori-Any available NPCs: relay that previous Crows, traveling the area, have seemingly been killed on roadways.
-Simone and Barb have taken extra care to exact John's guidance, here, in navigating safe passage.
-Share remnants of Red Eye experiments (one Red Eye humanoid corpse, Stumpy corpse, partial remains of Behemoth)
4) Take requests / messages from Tokori-Relay general info about Eototo
-(Optional) request guidance about Blackwell (Simone's discretion, here, if it should be mentioned.)
Objectives (Secondary / Passive):(Stuff that'd likely occur en route / while visiting The Crows and surrounding towns:)

Blue Route: Driving (Modern Day Version - At approx. 60 mph)

Notes:
This route takes several concerns into consideration, which nearly doubles the timeframe applicable for the most optimized route (both pre-apoc and post-apoc.)
Blue Route: Walking (Modern, at approx. 3 mph)
-NPCs carry supplies and trade goods. These are pre-packed to be carriable, but would likely encumber them a bit.
-The route would also require more stops, diversions due to roadside safety concerns, etc.

Notes:
Same idea as above, but this route will be defaulted to if the travelers find themselves without a car, for whichever reason. This route doesn't have the red divergent route. This is mostly just because divergent routes aren't restricted to vehicle-accessible roads. In the event of them needing to stray off this path, I--uhhh. Well, I don't have a real estimate, there, for that one lol.
-183 miles
-4 hours, 12 mins (in modern day)
Post-Apoc Request / Suggestion (Halved Speed - At approx 30 mph)-183 miles
-8 hours, 24 mins (in post-apoc)
Red Route: Alternative Route, Evasive Route, Etc.-Probably the same speed
-Doubled distance (approx), whenever applied

Notes:
This route takes several concerns into consideration, which nearly doubles the timeframe applicable for the most optimized route (both pre-apoc and post-apoc.)
-1 It avoids Pittsford, and especially Brighton, while maintaining reasonable distance from Fairport. Plenty of alternative routes exist, here, so as to leave open plenty of options in the event of local unrest. Simultaneously, it remains within arm's distance of the Rochester beltway, intersecting major roads leading to it, without being readily advanced upon if followed, for whichever reason.
-2 Between Canandaigua and Nunda (south of Mt. Morris, intersecting Interstate 390), the route rigidly travels, east to west, along the underbellies of Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake. This is chosen due to the reduced traffic throughput from Rochester to Itthaca and Montour Falls (and vice-versa). Essentially, only four roadways exist, north to south, within this area--and both become forks, thus leaving it to two. It's a big double chokepoint, and the red alternativee routes thus divert the route into the lesser of either fork's roads, respectively.
-3 Nunda, Springville, and Irving are the primary 'diversion towns' to be entered, near Erie Beach, if needed. These are chosen due to their proximity to Erie in general, where a greater likelihood of Erie Crow presence exists.
-4 Cold months likely shift populations away from the above-mentioned lakes, further towards Rochester and Buffalo (this is just speculation, though), and thus makes the route a little quieter.
-5 Most diversion routes (am *ahem* rather proud, here) are chosen due to a high number of side-roads and intersections--while also remaining adjascent to major town/city throughput routes: Many options for our drivers, and very little line of sight for followers (in theory, at least.) All routes remain relatively close to major highways, if direct access is critical, while also skirting town edges.
-6 Origin and destination, both ways, have interchangable diversion routes--each with respective inbound-outbound access points, following the same method above.
Blue Route: Walking (Modern, at approx. 3 mph)
-162 miles
-2 days, 6 hours
Post-Apoc Request / Suggestion (Halved speed, at approx 1.5 mph)-NPCs carry supplies and trade goods. These are pre-packed to be carriable, but would likely encumber them a bit.
-The route would also require more stops, diversions due to roadside safety concerns, etc.
-162 mles
-4 and 1/2 days

-1 Plenty of stops, just east of Erie Beach. At any point wherein the NPCs are forced to walk, John would instruct them to scope out surrounding towns at their discretion, or whenever needed in the slightest: Lack of vehicle access is a major threat, in his consideration, which makes info-gathering for routes ahead much more important.
-2 Supplies for walking have been provided: About one trip's-worth to Erie. So, for a round trip, enough walking supplies can sustain the NPCs for approximately half the trip there, and half the trip back. If the NPCs find themselves without a vehicle, this allows them to either:
-a Press onward to Erie Lake (from Interstate 390, onward), and gather return trip supplies there, for the unaccounted for one-half trip, back.
-b Press onward from Erie Lake to Monroe, if for whatever reason the car explodes while in Erie.
-c Return to Monroe, if for whatever reason the car explodes outside of Monroe, the NPCs push forward to Interstate 390 for cover, and decide to return to Monroe. This is unlikely, but ya never know eh?
