Biography
Pete's interest in being an engineering was cultivated at in high school, and later expanded his knowledge in college where he'd end up completing his Bachelors degree before the outbreak. During the outbreak Pete has suffered the loss of close friends and family like so many others. Yet that hasn't broken him will to live, eventually joining the Coalition down the line as he continued to survive.

I think you got crossed on which one of these you are applying for! Extraction is the one with the Coalition Rangers, set during the late days of our last lore. The U.S. Marine one-shot is Downfall, and has different classes.
