APPROVAL INFORMATION:
When the train derailed on the outskirts of town, Barbara was working late at the WHAS11 studio, putting together her latest story. An emergency alert interrupted the live broadcast of the evening news, ordering evacuations for the community and shelter-in-place protocols for the station. While her colleagues scrambled to follow orders, Barbara sensed something darker at play. Ignoring their pleas, she convinced her old friend and cameraman, Mitchell, to sneak out with their portable equipment to investigate further.

Under the cover of night, they tracked strange military activity, witnessing shadowy government spooks and soldiers in full tactical gear rounding up panicked, disoriented civilians who seemed sick. When one lunged at a soldier, the response was a single gunshot. Camouflaged trucks rumbled past moments after, transporting body bags. Barbara's gut churned with a mix of vindication and dread. Her instincts had been right—too right. From the shadows, a figure staggered into view. His eyes were wild and hollow, filled with an unnatural hunger. Before they could react, the man lunged, teeth bared like a rabid animal, sinking them deep into Mitchell's arm. Barbara screamed, but her voice was swallowed by the night as they fled in fear. Yet, she was relentless. Even as the world crumbled around them, she couldn’t let go. The footage they had captured was a lifeline. She insisted they return to the studio to develop the footage before it could be erased—erased like everything else in the town that the military was in the process of covering up.

Little did they know the horrors pursuing them, or that Barbara's unquenchable quest for the truth would soon have them fighting for their very survival.

This is so exciting. I’m getting real 70s horror movie female protagonist vibes so I’m *definitely* going to lean into it. Also, since you’re a fellow Creepcast listener and will understand this reference, I’m thinking I’ll make her a bit like Alice from the Left/Right Game.. At least motivations-wise. I think an Obsessive search for truth would work nicely with her background.

Haha, I'm so glad you like all of this stuff! I'm so excited for the one-shot and I def. love the 70s vibes too. Left/Right Game was incredible so I'm all in with the Alice comparison, it's a good one too I think as far as motivations go. Try to survive!
