Jake Howard

Yes
Age
20
Personality
Jake's a loner by nature. He's lived a troubled life and has been hurt by the majority of the people around him, often undeservedly. As a result of this, he's become heavily self-centered and most of the time will only help others if it's to his benefit in one way or another. While not overtly evil or hateful in any way, he views others with a general sense of caution, in an effort to self-preserve in hopes that he won't be hurt again.
However, sometimes in rare cases, the kind, caring and generous person he used to be occasionally slips through the cracks of his hardened emotional shell.
He tends to avoid conflict, but isn't afraid to get into one if pushed to his limits. His self-isolating attitude has made him stronger emotionally, and when it comes to situations where he's put under serious pressure, he's usually first to react.
Physical Appearance
Underweight, 5'11". Brown hair, light skin, green eyes. Strong legs and heightened athleticism from constant, long-distance runs, Jake is more of a runner than a fighter. His face makes him look a few years younger than he actually is.

Biography
Jake Howard was forced to endure an awful childhood. His parents were hardly ever home, and he had no siblings to spend time with. When his parents were home, however, they were either bickering with each other, or projecting their anger in their lives onto him. It often resulted in beatings varying in severity. Jake, despite living with these awful people all his life, viewed them as the very archetype of what NOT to become. Due to the poor conditions at home, Jake found it better to keep out of the house as much as possible. He got into the habit of going on long-distance runs and walks as much as possible.
When his parents finally divorced, he and his mother moved towns and he was transferred to a new school. Being the new kid, he was labeled as a target early on. For the first year, he gritted his teeth and dealt with it, as getting expelled would make his situation ten times worse. The following year, he saw only escalation. Eventually, he snapped.
The boy leading his tormentors walked home from school every day. Jake ignored his bus home and followed him at a distance he'd go unnoticed one day during a massive thunderstorm. After learning the route, Jake skipped school the following day and hid behind a dumpster with a baseball bat in hand. As the boy walked by, he swung it as hard as he could into his kneecap. The boy cried out but Jake continued hitting him with seemingly no sign of stopping. It wasn't until the boy was begging him to stop was he able to stop seeing red. He walked off, threw the bat into a creek and spent the next four hours walking home.
It wasn't until late that night that he realized he did have the will to fight after all. He didn't enjoy doing what he had done, but at the same time, he had no remorse. The remaining years he spent in school were uneventful, as word of what he did had quickly spread. He was no longer targeted and ridiculed, but feared and hated. That was fine by him.
His life at home did not improve until applying and being accepted to college, where his mother attempted to reconcile with him over the years he'd been forced to suffer through. He was unable to forgive her, but ensured her he would come visit during holidays. A blatant lie. Bellarmine University would be his home for the next few years, and he would do his utmost to make the most of it.
