≫ WHAT'S UP WITH GATEWAY ROLEPLAY? ≪

  • We've been radio silent for a long time now. We posted an announcement in our Discord server back in April of 2025, but never updated the forums. So what's up with Gateway Roleplay?

    After 5 long years, we've decided to place the development of Ties That Bind on an indefinite hold.

    This doesn't mean it's cancelled. We fully intend to run Ties That Bind: What Lies Beneath and Ties That Bind: City of Angels eventually. But to do so, we need to take a step back. In the meantime, we'll be working on smaller, invite-only projects.

    Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us this long! MindGate and I (Pika) have been working on this server for over a decade now. It truly is a passion project for us.

FRANCIS "FRANKIE" NIAL

Standing at five-foot-seven, Francis has a lot to make up for and unequivocally fails at it in every single field. He doesn’t fit the bill of being in-shape, bordering lanky and lean with some hidden muscle in there, a crooked nose from one too many bar fights and bright red hair to match up with his blue eyes and lightly freckled face. He has a slight odor to him, yellowed teeth, and a brace around his right leg. He is most commonly seen wearing an old, patched up GAA Jacket. Since his arrival in The Barrens, Francis has acquired new scars; one on the right side of his neck from a stray arrow and numerous fading bruises.

What makes a man; his wallet, or his personality? To Francis Nial, his answer is simple - both, but he lacks one and that isn’t his wallet. To him, the whole world revolves around money, alcohol, and girls and the work never stops for him. For as long as he can remember, he has moved from place-to-place, spending his nights with prostitutes and drinking his body weight in alcohol. You can imagine that he isn’t the most charming of individuals; he has no perception of basic courtesy, no filter, no shame, and no issue telling you what he thinks straight to your face.

I almost want to raise a stink that I was the first person to use an Alice in Chains song as my theme this lore.

Jokes, ofc, Alice In Chains is a great band.
